New On1 Photo RAW

On1 has announced an all new non-destructive RAW file processor and editor. Many of the current RAW processors are just enhanced versions of the makers original RAW processor. On1 has been working on their new RAW processor for several years and it was built new from the ground up to handle the latest RAW file formats and large file sizes running on modern PCs and MACs taking advantage of the latest graphics processors and operating systems. On1 initial information indicates that it will be ACR (Adobe Camera RAW) on steroids.

Photo RAW will be the next upgrade from Photo 10. Pre-order pricing is $79.99 or $119.99 for the full version. This is a limited time offer and upgrade pricing will go to $99.99 when this offer expires. Not quite sure what the final pricing will be if you are not currently an owner of an earlier version but It appears it is going to be $119.99 as the upgrade page does not show another price for the full version.

If you pre-order an upgrade you also receive four On1 "Masters Classes" which On1 values at $100. From looking at the page it does not appear that you get the four classes if you order the full version. On1 has not announced a release date but based on previous version releases it will be in late October or early November.

I use On1's Photo 10 and I really like it especially for masking. It also does a very good job, sometimes better than Photoshop, of removing unwanted elements or flaws in a photo. It does layers and has a Portrait module. If you don't like Adobe's subscription model then this is a program that you can purchase and own a perpetual license. On1 does have two annual subscription models but it is not necessary to subscribe in order to purchase the current Photo 10 or the upcoming Photo RAW. Finally Photo RAW is currently not listed in ON1's online store so you can only order it via the link below. However they are asking people to "signup" by providing their email address to receive additional information regarding Photo RAW so if you do so they may then send you an email with a link to a page that provides pricing.

For more information check out these links.

This is the link I received in an email from On1 that included upgrade pricing: https://www.on1.com/landing/photo-raw-offer/
