About 25 miles east of Big Pine, in Inyo National Forest, you’ll find the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest.

 

This is a great destination for some photos of these amazingly old pine trees. Photos during daylight hours with starburst sun showing through gnarled, twisted branches, or night photos showing the galaxy and/or star trails are stunning. Sunrise and sunsets with clouds in the background are other possibilities.

 

Remember before you start: full tank of gas, water, warm clothing.
