Pacific Grove and Surrounding Areas Field Trip

Writeup by Jim Sakaguchi

What we saw: Over 30 club members attended this field trip. We all stayed at Asilomar State Park Conference Center in Pacific Grove spending time together at the beach during sunsets.

Members divided up in groups or off on their own to photograph the coastal, seabirds, historic sights and city landscape of Pacific Grove, Monterey, Carmel, 17 Mile Drive, Point Lobos State Park and much more. We had a group lunch in Pebble Beach's Stillwater Bar and Grill. And a group dinner at Fishwife restaurant which are recommended.

Overall, the field trip was a mix of serious and funny photography, socializing and a chance to breathe the ocean air.

Additional information about this Field Trip:

  • Distance from Lincoln, CA: 225 miles, 4 hours by Interstate 5 and routes 152, 101 and 1.

  • Walking difficulty: Most areas where members ventured offered public standard access, trails, walking paths, etc.

  • Parking suggestions: Depending on location parking was normally available.

  • Accommodations nearby: Club members all stayed at the Asilomar State Park Conference Center where we could meet and socialize.
